It wouldn't be until 50 years later when people saw Star_Wars & first got to see C-3PO in Episode_IV:_A_New_Hope. Unfortunately in 1977 many people didn't realize the 1927 depiction of a robot, but movies & stories tend to build upon what was previously out there.
For instance, Battlestar_Galactica_(1978_TV_series) with the BSG 2004_TV_series provided an expanded perspective of the overall storyline.
