When someone walks around with an iPhone or a laptop they're obviously not carrying the whole data network with them. Their portable devices connect to a much larger system of data & energy. Thus, a portable TimeMachine access unit would make sense. However, portable in this case would be like comparing a motorcycle to a ship. Technological devices & other things continue to be developed into various sizes.
