{BP's oil spill in Alaska blamed on cost-cutting
"The leak at the Prudhoe Bay field in March 2006 led to the spillage of at least 6,350 barrels of oil. BP was forced to suspend production after the company found that the leak had been caused by pipeline corrosion. It was forced to replace 16 miles of pipeline at a cost of $250m."}

Its strange timing how this horrific deepwater oil spill & the Iceland volcanic eruptions occurred around the 40th anniversary of Earth-day.
Nature & Humans have caused pollution & other damage to parts of the earth over time. It doesn't take a heat wave to melt polar ice caps, just at least 1 degree of Celsius, or about 34 Fahrenheit. That's hardly a heatwave for most of the inhabited parts of the world. Europe has endured two harsh winters in a row.
Here is a glimpse of how things could become an Environmental Police State.
